The Garage
The Garage, which is modelled on a car repair workshop established in Reykjavík in 1918, is a collaborative effort between the Árbær Open Air Museum, the Automobile Society, and the Blacksmith's Association. The exhibition is divided into three sections: car repairs, car manufacture and a paint shop. Artefacts featured in the Garage – the oldest dating back to 1913 – are almost all from Reykjavík and the neighbouring areas. The youngest items are from around the 1950s. The exhibition was set up in 2000.
